What’s a dude ranch without cowboy campfire sing-alongs, square dancing, hayrides, and cookouts? At Colorado Trails Dude Ranch, our ranch evenings are just as action-packed and enjoyable as our ranch days. Here’s a list of activities you might enjoy at Colorado Trails Dude Ranch once the sun goes down.
1. Ice Cream Social, Introductions and Orientation Outside the Soda Fountain.
We want you to enjoy your stay with us, and of course we’d love it if all our guests left as friends. To facilitate getting to know each other, we usually start our week with an ice cream social, introductions and an orientation to our dude ranch. This introductory evening will help you get to know the other guests and get familiar with the ranch so that your family vacations at the Colorado Trails guest ranch will be most enjoyable.
2. Cookout and campfire sing-along.
We always try to offer at least one cookout during the week. Our cookout kicks off with a hayride to the cookout area, then our excellent chef serves up dinner. After dinner, the kids can opt to play games and go on a second hayride just for them. Meanwhile, the adults can hang out and enjoy the singing of our cowboy singer, Greg Ryder.
3. Western dancing in the Opera House.
Kids and adults alike usually get a kick out of our line and square dancing evening. Even if you have two left feet, you’ll have fun trying to learn the steps to the traditional western dances, and everyone will have lots of laughs.
4. The Durango Melodrama.
The Durango Melodrama is one of the most popular outings at our guest ranch. For almost fifty years, the Melodrama has been a part of Durango’s summers. Colorado Trails Dude Ranch provides the transportation and the tickets (extra charge), while the historic Henry Strater Theatre provides the dinner and the show.
5. Candlelight dinner for mom and dad, cookout and games for the kids.
Have you been dying for just one night together without the presence of your lovely, wonderful, terrific children? We understand that even during all inclusive family vacations, mom and dad need some time alone. That’s why we arrange for an overnight camping trip for the older kids (younger kids can go too if mom and dad think they can handle it). The kids start their adventure with a cookout and games, while mom and dad enjoy real adult time, followed by a candlelight dinner.
6. Spend a quiet night together.
Action-packed all inclusive family vacations like the family vacations we offer at Colorado Trails Guest Ranch are sometimes almost too much adventure. That’s why you can always opt out of our evening activities at the guest ranch, and instead just spend a quiet night together with your family.
